First edition. Softcover. 94 pages. The highlight of this issue is an article that features five photographs by Diane Arbus internally and an additional image by her on the front cover. Articles include: Melvin Charney's "On the Liberation of Architecture," Marcia Tucker's "Recent Paintings by Joan Synder," "An Interview with Robert Ryman" by Phyllis Tuchman. Robert Pincus-Witten writing on Christopher Wilmarth, John Elderfield writing "On Constructivism," and Selma G. Lanes' "The Art of Maurice Sendak." A very good copy in stapled wrappers with some creasing to the corners, small chip to the top of the front cover, some other light wear and from the library of the Visual Studies Workshop with their stamp to the front free endpaper. Still, a solid copy of this terrific issue.

Preface by James Elliott. Essay by Joseph Masheck. Includes numerous black and white illustrations. A very good plus copy in wrappers with some minor wear and some tanning to the top edge of the rear panel. Signed and warmly inscribed by Wilmarth on the verso of the front cover: "For Joan Mondale with thanks for an enjoyable evening. Christopher Wilmarth." The recipient was the wife of Vice President Walter Mondale. Uncommon signed.

First Edition. 4to, 95pp; blue cloth stamped in white. One of 100 numbered copies signed by Wilmarth, Morgan and Ashton set and printed by the Stinehour Press. There were 2900 softcover copies comprising the rest of the edition. A splendid production illustrated with reproduction of Wilmarth's charcoal drawings, pastels, and sculptures. Some faint marks toward the bottom of the spine; white stamping slightly rubbed; very near fine.

This is a three ring vinyl binder containing thirty-four page proposal containing thirteen sections representing the artist's proposal to the Percent For Art program of New York City's Department of Cultural Affairs. Also included is a 34 page stapled collection of guidelines for the grant, including the initial invitation to Wilmarth to serve on the selection panel for the Prospect Park Zoo's renovation. Wilmarth's highly personal written proposal was rejected by the Department ".despite a petition with 200 signatures he helped gather" [New York Times]. A part of the artist's Closing Statement" reads as follows: ".And why would a successful artist spend weeks trying to build support for Children's Art in the Children's Zoo and preparing this report instead of shopping for a weekend place in the Hamptons?.The answer is simple. I have been a given temporary job in public service and am being paid $150.00 of the taxpayers' money to use my professional experience to help select works of art best suited for a site -- works that will be funded by public money". Wilmarth died by his own hand later in 1987. One copy of this proposal has been located in the Christopher Wilmarth Papers at the Harvard Art Museums Archives.
