A handsome set, mixing the first UK editions of vols. I-III and first US editions of vols. IV-VI. Monypenny's biography was based on the papers that Disraeli had bequeathed to his former secretary Lord Rowton. On Monypenny's death, Buckle completed the work from the third volume. Six volumes, octavo (211 x 137 mm). Contemporary red half morocco for G. P. Putnam's Sons, spines lettered in gilt, red cloth sides and endpapers, top edges gilt. Contemporary bookplate of William J. Curtis to front pastedown. Ink note to table of contents in vol. I, some spotting to edges and toning to contents. An excellent set.
