Burden was Ambassador to Belgium under Eisenhower. Author of The struggle for airways in Latin America (1943). Philanthropist and art collector. The Burden Hall at the Harvard Business School was named after his father. Recipient of the inscribed copy was Frederick H. Osborn (1889-1981), businessman and author of books on eugenics (1940), The Atomic Impasse (1948), and American Education and Soviet Propaganda (1947).
