He became the first full-time professor of law at University of Cape Town in 1920, holding the chair until 1945, and lecturing chiefly on Roman-Dutch law. Many judges in South Africa and Rhodesia studied under him. Wille was one of the best-known legal writers in South Africa. He was known for his liberal outlook and for his support of equal legal rights to South Africa's underprivileged classes. 006-3.
