Map. Zustand: Very Good. Uncolored map, 13 in. x 16 in., of County Down and The Isle of Man. Separate scales for Down County (1 inch = 3 Irish miles), and for Isle of Man (1 inch = 7 miles). Compass rose. The bottom right corner, below the neat line, notes "S. Wheatley, Sculp." Two folds, one centered on the vertical, one center…ed on the horizontal. Hint of wear to corners; one 1/2 in. closed tear to bottom margin. Shallow crease across bottom right quadrant. Paper is bright and supple. Samuel Wheatley (? - 1771) was a Dublin-based engraver. This map by Wheatley was published in "The Antient and Present State of the County of Down" by Charles Smith and Walter Harris (Dublin: A. Reilly, 1744).
