Der daraus resultierende volkswirtschaftliche Schaden ist immens. Trotz ernster staatlicher Sanktionen gelingt es bis heute nicht, Korruption vollständig einzudämmen. Da sich die Korruption über einen so langen Zeitraum als Strategie von Wirtschaftsindividuen gehalten hat, wird vermutet, dass es sich dabei um eine evolutionär stabile Strategie handelt. Der Verfasser dieser Arbeit geht davon aus, dass die spieltheoretische Untersuchung der die Korruption verursachenden Verhaltensmuster und die Ableitung eines entsprechenden Mechanismus-Designs einen Beitrag zur Korruptionshemmung leisten kann, und zwar mittels konzeptioneller Empfehlungen hinsichtlich gesetzgeberischer und wirtschaftlicher Rahmenbedingungen, um diese auf eine Weise gestalten zu können, die es potentiellen Korruptionsverursachern schwer oder unmöglich macht, aus ihrem Verhalten wirkliche Vorteile zu erzielen und dem Phänomen, bzw. den Akteuren damit die Motivation entzieht. Um diesem Anspruch näher zu kommen, sollte in dieser Arbeit ein möglicherweise evolutionärer Charakter der Korruption untersucht und gegebenenfalls nachgewiesen werden. Zielsetzung der Diplomarbeit war somit die spieltheoretische Modellierung von Korruption in der Wirtschaftswelt, unter der besonderen Berücksichtigung evolutionärer Aspekte. Insbesondere wird die Hypothese aufgestellt, dass es sich bei dem Phänomen der Korruption um eine evolutionär stabile Strategie handelt. Die Methoden, die zur Erreichung der hier formulierten Ziele zum Einsatz kommen sollten, sind zum einen rein (spiel-) theoretischer Art (Matrix-Spiele und deren mathematische Beschreibung) und zum anderen sollten die aus diesen theoretischen Überlegungen gewonnenen Mechanismen, durch die Entwicklung entsprechender Algorithmen (in der Programmiersprache NetLogo), in einer Agenten-Basierten Simulation implementiert werden. In der Simulation sollte es möglich sein, durch diskrete Veränderung von Parametern unterschiedliche Szenarien durchzuspielen, um so das Modell für verschiedene Untersuchungen nutzbar zu machen.
