The Ellesmere was issued with The Parish Magazine as an insert, as seen in this copy. The magazines feature a wide variety of articles, short stories, and local news. Part two of this work features frequent monochrome vignette and full-page illustrations throughout. The Parish Magazine, which at the time was the first commercial parish magazine inset, was issued and edited by British clergyman John Erskine Clarke. Bound in brown cloth. Externally, a little worn. Joints broken. Reinforced front hinge has resulted in stiffness when opening the work. Rear hinge starting. Mild rubbing to extremities. Moderate loss to head and tail. Moderate age toning to endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean, with occasional spotting. Moderate age toning to text block edges. Mild cockling throughout. Good. book.
