Hardcover. Zustand: Good. No Jacket. THE BOARDS ARE RUBBED AND FADED. THE SPINE IS RUBBED AND FADED. THE CORNERS ARE SLIGHTLY SCUFFED. THE SPINE IS SCUFFED AT BOTH ENDS. THERE ARE SMALL NEAT PENNED MARKS TO THE FRONT INSIDE BOARD. THE PAGES HAVE YELLOWED AROUND THE EDGES. THE BINDING IS TIGHT. PAGES GENERALLY APPEAR CLEAN AND CREASE FREE. ALL IN ALL A NICE EXAMPLE OF THIS BOOK.

Copper-engraving, landscape format on wove paper, (image 165x221mm on paper 210x270mm), slightly browned round the margins and frayed at the edges, with a tear (repaired) in the right-hand margin cutting the plate mark but not affecting the image. A fine view of this historic Hertfordshire house which was in the possession of both Henry VII and Henry VIII and was rebuilt several times over the years. The building is noteworthy for being the site of 'The fatal vespers' when during a sermon a chamber floor collapsed under the weight of 300 people or whom 94 are reported to have died.
