In den WarenkorbMichigan senator (1928-51) and president pro tem; delegate to United Nations Conference at San Francisco (1945) and to first United Nations General Assembly (1946). TNS, 1p, 8" X 10½", Washington, DC, 16 March 1932. Addressed to William Johnson. Near fine. On "United States Senate" letterhead, Vandenberg sends his autograph to a Michigan constituent: "I assume that the signature to this letter will answer your purposes as an autograph." Large, bold signature in blue ink. Accompanied by a fine original glossy black-and-white 8" X 10" news agency photograph showing Vandenberg with another representative greeting President Truman. Printed caption running vertically at right dates this image 6 January 1947 and describes it: "President Truman, back to camera, turns to shake hands with Senat President and Tempore Arthur H. Vandenberg, (R), of Mich., left, and Speaker of the House Jos. W. Martin, Jr., (R), of Mass., right, after he delivered his annual State of the Union Meddage to a joint session of the new Congress in the House Chamber." A fun pair.
