Erstausgabe
First edition. Printed on handmade paper. In original blind wrappers, and illustrated hard paper, with tyrský's designs on front and rear panels. Unstapled as customary for Czech books of the era. 15, [1] pp. Jind?ich tyrský's two surrealist collages on the cover of this scarce privately printed Czech essay on psychoanalysis. The reproductions on the wrappers, two artworks by Jind?ich tyrský (18991942), the Dev?tsil-member, Czech surrealist artist, are from his erotic cycle "St?hovací kabinet" ("The portable cabinet," 1934). tyrský is also responsible for the overall typographical design of the booklet. Bilance psychoanalysy is Bohuslav Brouk's (19121978, ), an impassioned defense of the psychoanalytic principle in the arts, which denigrates a shallow and cheapened "Freudianism" practiced by greedy psychologists. Published as a private gift to friends and not for sale. Exceedingly scarce in the trade, especially in such good condition. KVK, OCLC show the copies at the Czech and the French national libraries, Getty, NYPL, and Yale, as well as a rebound copy at Chicago. . Pages untrimmed. Cover slightly dented at extremities. Overall in fine condition. In original blind wrappers, and illustrated hard paper, with tyrský's designs on front and rear panels. Unstapled as customary for Czech books of the era First edition. Printed on handmade paper.
