With this contribution the authors present a further overview concerning butter?ies of the Philippine Archipelago which is integrated into the outstanding series Butter?ies of the World. The initial treatise of the Philippine series was dedicated to the Papilionidae family (Page & Treadaway 2003, 2004). Included in the introduction of this publication on Papilionidae are detailed discussions on the physio- and biogeography of the Philippines which proceed the systematic section. The initial aim of this treatise is to introduce the Amathusiini of the Philippine Archipelago in the form of an illustrated checklist. In doing so, the authors were able to illustrate all the valid species and subspecies except for two taxa for which, to date, they have not seen any specimens. For each species and subspecies they have provided one or more illustrations of butterflies from different islands for which they show, for both the upper- and underside, the specific arrangement of markings. Further, for the depiction of the male genitalia they have striven to provide examples from islands other than presented by Aoki et al. (1982). In the text, for each genus they point out the formation of the secondary sex characteristics (scent organs) of the male example which also can be of special relevance for taxonomic studies. Here they have followed the positions taken by Corbet & Pendlebury (1978), which have also served as the source for the food plants of the larvae as far as known. Explanations concerning the habitat and habits are based upon the second author's numerous expeditions to the Philippines. The authors name for each species and subspecies the insular geographical distribution within the Philippines and refer to the publication of Treadaway (1995) as well as to data arising from more recent material in the second author's collection. In total, these data are an important instrument for biogeographical analyses. In conclusion, they provide for each taxon a short description of mostly the differential, diagnostic characteristics so that near relatives can be systematically and homogeneously separated from one another. 9 pp. + 22 color plates, 2 plates with line drawings, stapled folio [English edition].

With this contribution a further part of a survey of Philippine butterflies is presented which is part of the series Butterflies of the World for which several treatise of the Philippine series have already been published. The purpose of this treatise is to introduce the Euploea of the Philippine Islands as an illustrated checklist. All the butterflies depicted are from the author's collection apart from one lectotype (a male Euploea phaenareta althaea) and one paralectotype (a female Euploea phaenareta althaea) from the Semper Collection in the Senckenberg Museum in Frankfurt am Main, All specimens illustrated, both males and females, are shown lifesize. From one up to 15 examples per subspecies are shown, in colour, depending on breadth of individual variation for a subspecies as well as to compare, where it seems pertinent, the appearance of the same subspecies occurring on different islands. In the outline given for each species, the secondary sex characteristics of the males where they occur are briefly covered. Information concerning habitat and habit are based primarily on the author's numerous expeditions (from 1953-2004) to the Philippines. For each taxon a short description of the key points of differences between various subspecies of each given species in the Philippines is provided. Also given for each species and subspecies are the island distribution within the Philippines primarily based on the Revised Checklist of the Butterflies of the Philippine Islands (Lepidoptera: Rhopalocera) Treadaway & Schroeder, 2012. There are five subspecies (one from each of five different species) primarily from the Sulu Archipelago that have not been illustrated. These are E. phaenareta grandis Moore, 1883 from Jolo, E. swainson duplex Hulstaert, 1931 from Bazilan, E. sylvester bazilana Frustorfer, 1900 and E. midamus hypaspistes Fruhstorfer, all three from Bazilan and E. blossomae hilogensis Yamamoto & Takei, 1992 from N.E. Mindanao. A map of the Philippines is provided showing the names of the larger and medium-sized islands as well as a few of the smaller islands where rare butterflies have been obtained. 10 pp. + 28 plates, 1 b/w map, stapled folio.

A revised geographical checklist of Lepidoptera: Rhopalocera (families Papilionidae, Pieridae, Nymphalidae, Lycaenidae, Riodinidae and Hesperiidae) found in the Philippines together with their island distribution, endemicity and occurrence (as experienced by the authors) is given. It has been compiled based on over 55 years of experience of observing and collecting butterflies in the Philippines. Todate 927 species of butterflies have been identified as occurring in the Philippines of which 377 or 40.7 % are endemic. 64 pp., 8 color plates with 126 figs, 2 maps, stapled 4.

The detailed text for this volume is published in Butterflies of the World, Supplement 15. It illustrates 170 species and 49 additional subspecies of the butterfly family Hesperiidae found on the Philippine Islands. This is 19 more than the author's 1993 publication. Seven of these species were not only new to the Philippines, but new to science as well. More new records and new species can be expectec from the exploration of remote areas, and by the recognition of new taxa in genera with many similar species. The plates usually show both males and females, and upperside and underside. In cases in which there was no Philippine material available for illustration, specimens from outside the Philippines have been used. All photographed specimens are in the collection of C.G. Treadaway ((to be depositied in Museum Senckenberg, Frankfurt/Main), except where stated otherwise. Among the illustrated specimens are 46 holotypes, 51 paratypes, four lectotypes and two paralectotypes. 18 pp. + 39 color plates + 1 color plate on cover, stapled folio.
