In den WarenkorbPaperback. Zustand: Used; Good. Add a dash of red Russian literature to the bookshelf with this vintage collection of Tolstoy's War and Peace in two volumes. 'Some one dear to one can be loved with human love; but an enemy can only be loved with divine love. And that was why I felt such joy when I felt that I loved that man. What happened to him? Is he alive? .Loving with human love, one may pass from love to hatred; but divine love cannot change. Nothing, not even death, can shatter it. It is the very nature of the soul. And how many people I have hated in my life. And of all people none I have loved and hated more than her. If it were only possible for me to see her once more. once, looking into those eyes to say.' - the perfect read for all lovers of classic literature. - the perfect read for all lovers of classic literature. His arrival in Havana coincided with what can now be seen as one of the most critical periods of the Cuban Revolution when the early dreams and ideals were having to be adapted to the harsh economic reality of that period. Jorge Edwards was a witness to some of the most dramatic events in recent Latin American history and his book is remarkable as a testimony to that time. In a new Epilogue, specially written for the British edition, Jorge Edwards looks back with sadness on events in his own country since the military coup which overthrew Salvador Allende's elected Government on 11 September. 1973.'
