In den WarenkorbTaschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Life can change in the blink of an eye, and for Madison, it did. One moment altered her world forever, leaving her to grapple with the grief and loss that now define her days. As she navigates this new reality, the weight of that tragic moment is a constant companion. But amidst the turmoil, an unexpected encounter with Benson shows Madison that there's more to existence than the events that shape us. Through their growing bond, Madison begins to discover the beauty and possibilities that still lie ahead.

In den WarenkorbTaschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This volume comprises the proceedings of the NATO Advanced Research Workshop on the Science and Engineering of 1- and O-dimensional semiconductors held at the University of Cadiz from 29th March to 1st April 1989, under the auspices of the NATO International Scientific Exchange Program. There is a wealth of scientific activity on the properties of two-dimensional semiconductors arising largely from the ease with which such structures can now be grown by precision epitaxy techniques or created by inversion at the silicon-silicon dioxide interface. Only recently, however, has there burgeoned an interest in the properties of structures in which carriers are further confined with only one or, in the extreme, zero degrees of freedom. This workshop was one of the first meetings to concentrate almost exclusively on this subject: that the attendance of some forty researchers only represented the community of researchers in the field testifies to its rapid expansion, which has arisen from the increasing availability of technologies for fabricating structures with small enough (sub - O. I/tm) dimensions. Part I of this volume is a short section on important topics in nanofabrication. It should not be assumed from the brevity of this section that there is little new to be said on this issue: rather that to have done justice to it would have diverted attention from the main purpose of the meeting which was to highlight experimental and theoretical research on the structures themselves.

In den WarenkorbTaschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Spain After the Indignados/15M Movement explores how the aftershocks of the 2007 Great Recession restructured Spain's political sphere and political imaginary. It brings together a representative sample of Spain's leading progressive voices, including two of the five founding members of the Podemos party. The essays herein explore the areas of economics, politics, ecology, social change, media, and cultural politics in order to present a broad, critical account of contemporary Spain, with a special emphasis on emerging forms of sociopolitical contestation, self-organizing, democratic participation, and radical politics. The edited volume argues that Spanish cultural studies-which originally gravitated toward celebratory accounts of capitalist modernization, the cultural Movida and the advent of a postmodern Spain-must continue to build a new cultural politics that not only challenges the accepted narrative of the Spanish Transition to democracy, but that is committed to confronting the civilizatory challenges currently faced.

In den Warenkorb166 pp.; 23.5 x 28 cm.; glue bound; black-and-white & color; edition size 500; unsigned and unnumbered; offset-printed "This book brings together new texts written to accompany 79 exhibitions organized by Bob Nickas between 1984 and 2011. Nickas chose one work to represent the memory of each exhibition, and through this visual "lens" he reflects on his activity as a curator, offering many behind-the-scenes views to the art world of the 1980s and 90s, as well as intimate recollections of the artists he worked with, and the art works he encountered over the years. The book, then, can be seen as a sort of memoir. Always placing the artists and their works within a social milieu, while also aware of how art travels across time, he reminds us that both lead multiple lives, as an exhibition can reanimate a work from the past, and occasion the discovery of forgotten and marginalized figures among those who are very well-known. This retrospective catalog is also in many ways an ideal exhibition -- or collection -- 27 years in the making." -- publisher''s statement.
