Five raised bands, title in gilt over red and green morocco labels affixed to spine. Gilt embellishments to compartments on spine. Solid text blocks, small chips to corne…rs, faint creasing along hinges. Light foxing along endpapers, occasional spotting throughout text. Overall, a bright, near fine example. In addition to Paradise Lost and Paradise Regained, John Baskerville is celebrated for his clear printings of Virgil (1757), Joseph Addison works (1761), The Bible (1763), and Vergil in English (1766). He is the namesake of the modern Baskerville typeface. A complete set of Paradise Lost together with Paradise Regained by John Milton.
