Presenting unique and in-depth collaborations and editions with leading international artists, this book features John Bock (Germany), Peter Doig (Great Britain) and Fred Tomaselli (U.S.). BockÆs hypnotic and clownish lectures-his signature artistic medium-mix language, social theory, dramatic elements, history and fairy tales, among other things. He performs on stage-like structures made from household furniture and multi-level wooden platforms while constructing handmade sculptures out of clothing, household appliances and other common materials. DoigÆs paintings are at once romantic and nostalgic. With a vaguely impressionistic veil, he turns respresentational imagery taken from photographs into dream-like abstractions. Tomaselli makes paintings that incorporate resin, photo-collage, pills, hallucinogenic plants and medicinal herbs in abstract compositions, figurative scenes and fictive landscapes., English/ German, Year2003, Illust. In den WarenkorbHardback. Zustand: Near fine. First Edition. 24 x 31cm 50pp near fine hardback exhibition catalogue containing an essay: 'Fred Tomaselli's Hybrid Sublime' together with single page colour reproductions. Fred Tomaselli is an American artist. best known for his highly detailed paintings on wood panels, combining an array of unorthodox materials suspended in a thick layer of clear, epoxy resin. Tomaselli's paintings include medicinal herbs, prescription pills and hallucinogenic plants alongside images cut from books and magazines: flowers, birds, butterflies, arms, legs and noses, which are combined into patterns that spread over the surface of the painting like a virus or growth. He uses an explosion of color and combines it with a basis in art history. His style usually involves collage, painting, and/or glazing. He seals the collages in resin after gluing them down and going over them with different varnishes.

Softcover. Zustand: Sehr gut. 1. Auflage. Z : 272 Seiten, 304 Abb.
