Pale green cloth boards decorated in black on front and spine. Exterior shows minor scuffing and soiling along with light edge and corner bumps. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. Pages are clean though paper is very lightly toned due to age. No handwriting or signatures other than that of the author, no bookplates, no library markings, no remainder marks. The authors inscription reads: "Your Arctic friend, David Irwin". First edition thus the single date of 1935 appearing on the copyright page. Signed by Author(s).

Frontispiece portrait of the arctic explorer in his fur coat. 254 pages, several b/w photo plates. Irwin, 1910-1970, was an American explorer. He is most famous for surviving a 2,000-mile dog sled trek to the North Pole in 1934, upon which this book is based. Later in life, he became a showman, presenting at the WorldÃs Fair and other events.
