Pictorial card covers, with the contents bound in with an Arnos fastener; covers a little unevenly sunned and rubbed, with two tiny closed tears; in excellent condition. A presentation copy, with the first page inscribed and signed 'To Jenny - best wishes, Helen Tolcher'. The dedication page is headed 'Interpreted by Heln Tolcher', and the work is 'Dedicated to all who worked in the field and the Laboratory with the Roonka Team' in 1971. The six-page preface by Loyd and Joy Chilman is followed by 14 myths and legends. The Ngaiawang (or 'Ngayawang') were 'one of the group of smaller tribes along the lower Murray River known to early settlers as Meru' (SA Museum website). Trove records only two copies (in the National Library of Australia, and the State Library of South Australia); the online cataloguing details could be improved.
