Softcover. Zustand: Very Good. Handmade books. Quarto sheets side stapled. [14]pp. Very good with moderate wear, one staple lacking and a few small stains on the cover. Accompanied by an envelope with "Le Shmuck is in the Lotus" written on one side. A collection of original pencil drawings by Dominque "Minni Jones" di Prima, the daughter of Amiri Baraka (formerly LeRoi Jones) and Diane di Prima. Pictures are various animals - snake, elephant, horse, and turtle, as well as the Blue Meanie from *The Yellow Submarine* and various runic signs. Jones appears to have had help from Rufus Collins, a member of the Poets Theatre, who performed in Baraka's *The Eighth Ditch (from The System of Dante's Hell)*, and Steven Thompson ("Steve Tsn"), a member of the Living Theatre, who penned the manuscript poem on the rear cover: "A Smuck is in the Lotus." Interestingly, the illustrations are drawn on the rectos of leftover, unused sheets from di Prima's *Floating Bear* 37, which features a cover recreation of the 1968 poetry portfolio, *666 "The Hymn" To "Lucifer"* by Hells Angels' Secretary Freewheelin' Frank. Today Dominque di Prima is a well-known radio personality and activist working in California and the winner of several Emmy Awards for her television work. A unique artifact documenting the close relationship between the poetry and experimental theater scenes in late 1960s New York.
