There is a personal gift inscription penned to front paper blank. Starting lightly at front hinge, but remains solid, tight, clean. While the box shows markings, rubbing, it remains sturdy and strong and has provided remarkable protection for the tome over the years.

This set of poetry is bound in attracted full tree calf, with gilt detailing and marbled endpapers. With an Oxford Binding label to the front paste down, in gilt. This collection is comprised of poetry by the Irish poet, Thomas Moore, whose work was first published in the late 18th Century. He is best-known for his Irish Melodies, with their popularity being responsible for bringing Irish culture to England by setting English-language verses to old Irish tunes. Moore had major success in London society, becoming registrar to the admiralty in Bermuda, which allowed him to travel to Canada and America. This fed into his poetry, leading him to write his book of Epistles, Odes and Other Poems, many of which are included in this collection. This work has been edited and introduced by Anglo-Irish scholar and author, A. D. Godley. With a frontispiece of Thomas Moore, by English engraver and illustrator, Emery Walker. In smart, full tree calf binding with gilt detailing and marbled endpapers. Externally, excellent, with light rubbing to extremities and to the spine label. Light bumping to corners and the odd handling mark. Light offsetting to endpapers, with a binding label to the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Very Good Indeed. book.
