Angesichts des starken Echos, das der Stil der Jungdeutschen bei den Zeitgenossen fand, ist es recht merkwürdig, daß die Forschung nur beschränktes Interesse dafür aufgebracht hat. Es gibt noch keine umfassende Untersuchung, die sich dieser Thematik mit so großem Interesse und aktuellem Problembewußtsein zugewendet hat, wie es bei den damaligen Kritikern anzutreffen war. In der vorliegenden Arbeit präsentiert der japanische Germanist Takanori Teraoka die Jungdeutschen als Schriftsteller, die sich durch dauerndes Experimentieren um eine Erneuerung des Stils bemühten.
