Flora Annie Steel was an Englishwoman who lived in India for 22 years where her husband was a member of the Indian Civil Service. She grew deeply interested in native Indian life and began to urge educational reforms on the Indian government. Her co-author, Richard Carnac Temple, was an Indian-born English administrator and anthopologist. A good copy with some light soiling to the covers. The spine is worn at the tips and is split at the upper right side. There is a small ink number on the title page else the text is very good with some light tanning. Scarce.
