Zustand: Fine. in-folio (mm 360x260), composto di un foglio bianco, 10 tavole a colori e tre fogli bianchi. Il volume si apre con una tempera al frontespizio e una tavola a tempera con dragone a cavallo, facente parte delle Gardes du Corps de S.M., con spada sguainata e moschetto. Seguono 8 tavole a colori,  sulle quali è stata lievemente impressa al tratto una silografia di un modello a cavallo dei Dragoni e dei Reggimenti della cavalleria sabauda con moschetto e sciabola, poi riccamente colorata all'acquerello con rialzi di tempera secondo le loro uniformi.Bella rilegatura coeva in piena pelle alle armi di Carlo Emanuele III (1701-1773), con grandi armi aradiche al centro dei piatti. Dorso a nervetti con fregi ai piccoli ferri, dentelle sugli spigoli, tagli dorati. Ai piatti losanga inscritta in scomparto rettangolare con fregi angolari all'interno e all'esterno; alle estremità ulteriore riquadro di duplice filetto con fregi angolari (qualche spellatura, rinforzi alle cuffie).La tempera al frontespizio presenta rialzi in oro: il titolo è calligrafato in caratteri di grande formato in rosso e oro brunito entro grande ovale formato da foglie d'alloro sormontato da stemma sabaudo entro l'aquila a volo spiegato, affiancata da tre bandiere per parte; nella metà inferiore stendardo con lo stesso stemma, due bandiere e drappo con motto victoria mecum e la data 1745.Tutti i fogli sono riquadrati a mano con doppio filetto rosso. Il cavallo della tempera ha una posizione differente dai seguenti, con le zampe anteriori sollevate, il cavaliere differisce pe aspetto e postura in sella ? riccamente decorata con simboli dorati ? e regge la spada sguainata.Sulle 8 tavole di cavalieri che seguono sono state impresse due tipologie di tratti xilografici, in una (ripetuta 5 volte) il cavallo ha le zampe anteriori sinistra e posteriore destra avanzate, invece nell'altra (ripetuta 3 volte) è fermo, con le quattro zampe a terra. Anche lungo il lato superiore si trova una parte impressa: un lungo drappo con volute, colorato in rosso, verde o azzurro, con la grande scritta a pennello in rosso con il battaglione di appartenenza.L'uniforme del dragone di ogni Reggimento e il manto dei cavalli sono dipinti a pennello, dal rosso al blu all'azzurro al bianco, spesso coprenti, per modificare la foggia del cinturone o della tracolla, il numero e la forma dei bottoni o delle asole. I visi sono vivacizzati con incarnati più o meno rosei, oppure variati da baffi, o capelli più lunghi e di diverse tinte, o dall'espressione più fiera. Poche sono le variazioni nell'equipaggiamento. Le uniformi dei corpi di cavalleria comprendono: (1) Gardes du Corps de S.M. - tempera originale(2) Reg.t Piemont Royal Cavallerie; (3) Reg.t Piemont Savoie Cavallerie; (4) Reg.t Dragons du Roi; (5) Dragons de SAR; (6) Dragons de Piemont; (7) Dragons La Reine; (8) Dragons de Sardaigne; (9) Dragons Garde de Chasse. Appartengono alla prima tipologia le tavole 2, 3, 6, 7, 9, mentra alla tipologia con zampe a terra le tavole 4, 5 e 8.Sono noti soltanto altri sei manoscritti di questo genere - conservati tra Biblioteca Reale e Archivio di Stato - e per dimensioni, tipo di carta, stile pittorico dei frontespizi, sono senza dubbio attribuibili allo stesso Giuseppe Ozeletti, funzionario dell'amministrazione militare, che aveva qualche vocazione artistica: ?(Nel 1736) ricevette l'incarico di illustrare un libro di modelli di Drapeaux approvati dal Re per la somma di 80 lire, che riscosse il 14 marzo di quell'anno; il lavoro doveva servire per il primo appalto globale di bandiere della fanteria. . .Il 12 aprile 1745 infine, il nostro appare ancora in una nota come autore di n. 3 libri dal med.mo formati e rimessi al Conte della Rocca rappresentanti li diversi uniformi delle Regie Truppe, e stendardi de Reggimenti di Cavalleria e Dragoni? (ALES, Insegne militari preunitarie, p. 15-44). Tutti questi sono però meno decorativi, raffigurando uniformi di Fanteria, bandiere e stendardi e in rilegatura simile. Book.…
