Betty Foy Sanders is a native of Bulloch County, an accomplished artist and a long-time supporter of the fine arts programs throughout the state of Georgia. Her husband, former Georgia Gov. Carl Sanders was in office from 1963-67. Sanders' paintings reflect her deep devotion to her home state of Georgia, and to its rich history and remarkable beauty. Recognizing her talents, she received the Artist Certificate of Excellence by Georgia Gov. Joe Frank Harris, and was featured in the PBS program State of the Arts. Inscribed by Mrs. Sanders to the flower girl in her wedding, Kay Minkovitz Beynart, who worked for Mayor Maynard Jackson of Atlanta City Georgia. She was called "one of the most ubiquitous and least heralded citizen activists in metro Atlanta" in Creative Loafing Magazine's "Green Team" article in 2003. Inscribed by author. book.
