In den WarenkorbHardcover. Sketches by Don Shirley. Cartography by Mary Anne Ballinger. Small 4to. Full leatherette with gilt lettering. xvi, 402pp. Sewn-in red satin page marker. Illustrations, maps, map endpapers. Fine. First edition of this sesquicentennial history -- not the common green cloth trade edition but the seldom seen deluxe edition, with heavy spiderweb glassine title page overlay noting "This is a limited numbered edition of which this copy is No. 18," below which Tate signs boldly. While the limitation number alas is not stated, the infrequency with which this edition surfaces suggests it is quite low. Lower right of front board bears giltstamped "Adlai and Nancy Stevenson." From the library of Adlai E. Stevenson (1930-2021), U.S. Senator from Illinois (1970-81), son of the Illinois governor (1900-65) who twice ran for the presidency and great-grandson of the vice president under Cleveland. The Stevensons were important figures in Bloomington for generations and all of them make appearances in this book.
