Die FAZ , der New Yorker und andere internationale Zeitschriften veröffentlichen seither seine satirischen Porträts und hintergründigen Zeichnungen. Im Mai 1993 wurde ihm der erstmals vergebene Olaf-Gulbransson-Preis verliehen, der Maler oder Zeichner mit souveräner, eigenwilliger Handschrift und meisterhafter Technik auszeichnet. Die Wahl fiel einstimmig auf Tullio Pericoli, dessen neueste Arbeiten aus diesem Anlaß im Olaf-Gulbransson-Museum, Tegernsee, sowie an weiteren Orten gezeigt und in diesem Buch veröffentlicht werden. Pericoli präsentiert hier eine Serie von virtuos gezeichneten, zart kolorierten Szenen und Phantasielandschaften, voll von Anspielungen und versteckten Bezügen, nicht zuletzt auf Meisterwerke der Kunstgeschichte von Brueghel bis Caspar David Friedrich. Leben: Tullio Pericoli studierte Jura in Rom und Urbino, wechselte dann mit politischen Karikaturen zur Presse und arbeitete für Werbeagenturen und für das Fernsehen. Berühmt wurde er durch seine karikaturistischen Porträts bekannter Personen. Dabei stellt er die Personen in Verbindung mit typischen Objekten aus ihrem Werk dar.
