12mo: 1 p. Ten lines of text. Bifolium. Grubby, and with the text of the letter faint. Letterhead printed in red with illustration of the firm's headquarters. Written in, or faded to, lilac, and could well be a carbon. Sending copies of the two newspapers as 'we think it probable you would like your newly published works noticed or reviewed' in them.

One page, quarto. On aged and creased paper. Letterhead illustrated with engraving of the paper's headquarters. Thanks him for the copy of Rowney's 'Artists' Almanac'. 'Like yourselves, we are an old family firm and as such have always taken a live interest in the Arts.' Endorses the Empire Art Council, feeling that '[t]here is a great deal that can be done in the exchange of art exhibitions, etc., between the various parts of the Empire'. Docketed with London address on reverse.

Cloth. First edition thus. 212 pp. Illus. with 1 colored map. 4to. A "presentation copy" from E. N. Erickson, U.S. agent for the Sydney Morning Herald. Boards rubbed with wear at the edges, presentation and title leaves reattached somewhat inexpertly and just a bit worn at the edges, remnant of original wrapper at the inner margin, small institutional stamp to title page and last leaf, map detached with two small tears along the folds otherwise colors bright and map clean, leaves lightly browned at the edges but otherwise fine. A good or better copy of this hard to find item.
