The official publication of one of the great loan shows of our time, displaying 104 works of this daring and influential impressionist. Organized by Mount Holyoke College Art Museum in association with the National Gallery of Art it was displayed in both museums and also the Kimball Art Museum during the winter of 1987-1988. Never since the Morisot memorial exhibition of 1896 had so many of her works been gathered together. Morisot was the hostess of a leading salon, and her life and career were intertwined with the great French flowering of arts and letters of the late nineteenth century. Such figures as Stephane Mallarme, Paul Verlaine, Gioacchino Rossini, the Goncourts, and Emile Zola play significant roles in her story. 4to. White cloth covered boards, magenta endpapers. 228 pp.
