Leather. Zustand: Very Good. None (illustrator). This is a study of the currents in neoclassical criticism with specific reference to Johnson's 'Preface to Shakespeare'. "Johnson's Preface to Shakespeare has been long established as a classic. Little effort has been made to examine in detail Johnson's own words." In a lovely red leather binding. In a full calf binding. There is some wear to the extremities including bumping ot the corners and some very slight discolouration to the boards. The binding is tight and firm with the boards and pages securely attached. Internally, the pages are generally bright and clean, with an ink signature to the front endpaper. Very Good. book.

This fascinating collection of essays explores the diverse ways in which Netherlandish art and luxury goods shaped and transformed the artistic landscape of Renaissance Spain This collection of essays explores the diverse ways in which Netherlandish art and luxury goods permeated the artistic landscape of Renaissance Spain. Covering a wide range of approaches and perspectives, the book includes studies on carved altarpieces, stone sculpture, painting, tapestry, architectural design, prints and mathematical instruments. Through the lens of artists, patrons, collectors, merchants and other intermediaries, special attention is paid to local cultures of collecting and display.
