The charming limited edition of The Highways and Byeways of Old Norwich: A Descriptive Ramble Through Conisford, the New Burgh, Westwick, Northwic & Tokethorpe, Wyme…r & the Liberty of the Prior, & Down the Wensum, written by local historian Mark Knights. This copy is one of three-hundred and fifty copies in demy quarto, with this particular being no. 197. In half calf, with marble boards. Contains a frontispiece, and all forty-nine other charming plates by Percy E. Stimpson. Collated complete. An illustrated history taking the reader on a ramble through Norfolk and its sites of historical interests, tracing the roads of Old Norwich through the Roman, Anglo-Saxon, and Medieval eras, including knowledge on Northwic's brief Viking settlement. In half calf, with marble boards. Externally, the odd faint scratch to boards, and small cracks to the heads and tails of the joints. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine, and to the extremities. Offsetting to free end papers, and a couple of small spots to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound, with minor wear to hinge between leaves pp.48-49. Pages are bright and mostly clean, with a couple of small spots to leaf extremities. Very Good. Percy E.
