Die Kritik soll dazu dienen für eine öffentliche Diskussion sensibel zu machen und keinesfalls die Schulrealität ersetzen. Aufgabe der verschiedenen Akteure, worunter Lehrkräfte fallen, ist es den heranwachsenden Kindern und Jugendlichen eine bestmögliche Bildung zu bieten, denn wie bereits Humboldt erkannt hat, ist eine gute Bildung entscheidend für die Weiterführung der Menschheit.Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit einer kritischen Auseinandersetzung des deutschen Bildungssystems. Insbesondere sollen die Herausforderungen, denen das deutsche Bildungssystem und die Heranwachsenden im Zuge der Globalisierung gestellt sind, verdeutlicht werden. Aus diesem Grund wird zunächst auf die Reformen der 1970er eingegangen, die eine implizite Schulkritik darstellen, um aufzuzeigen, welche Sachverhalte bereits in der Vergangenheit diskutiert und kritisiert wurden und welche Entwicklungen als Fortschritt beurteilt werden können. Im Nachhinein werden mit Hilfe des Jahresgutachtens 2011 des Aktionsrats Bildung aktuelle Reformideen illustriert.Nachfolgend wird mit Hilfe des Bildungsberichts 2018 auf weitere aktuelle Probleme und Entwicklungen der Bundesrepublik im Schulsystem hingewiesen, sodass überprüft werden kann, welche Reformideen seit 2011 umgesetzt wurden. Im vierten Kapitel wird ein eigener Zugang zur aktuellen Situation im deutschen Bildungswesen geschaffen. Der Fokus liegt dabei besonders auf der Frage, ob der heutige kompetenzorientierte Unterricht tatsächlich seinen Zweck erfüllt, nämlich Kindern und Jugendlichen dabei zu helfen das Gelernte handlungsfähig zu machen, Wissen aufzubauen und Bildung in erster Linie zu ermöglichen oder ob aufgrund der 'Zeitkompression' lediglich Informationen gelehrt werden, statt den Schülern dabei zu helfen Wissen aufzubauen.Demzufolge soll im vierten Kapitel die radikale Frage 'Ist die Schule eine Bildungseinrichtung oder lediglich eine Institution zur Informationsvermittlung, die uns daran hindert, gebildet zu werden ' versucht geklärt zu werden. Bei der Beantwortung dieser Frage werden Beiträge von Roland Reichenbach, Jürgen Oelkers und Johannes Baumann herangezogen.
