Unbound. Zustand: Near Fine. One-page Typed Letter Signed ("Jess A. Stines") with an attached gelatin silver photograph of Stine wearing his sheriff's badge and brandishing a pistol and captioned on the verso in pencil. Docketed as received by Smith & Wesson. Old folds from mailing, tiny nick in upper margin, near fine. Dated in… 1925 from Texarkana, Arkansas to Smith & Wesson, Stines states his qualifications: ". I am applying to your company for a position, but I would prefer Oklahoma as having held the following positions in that state, was federal prohibition agent, U.S. Indian Service eight years, seven years a sheriff and deputy sheriff." Also: "I am the best pistol shot in Oklahoma, having won the first State prize at Ardmore, Oklahoma August 10, 1925, the inclosed(sic) picture taken at the time I won the best pistol shot in the state. I used the Smith & Wesson and S.W. Ammunition and I am familiar with Wesson & Ammunition." The 36-year-old gives several references of Oklahomans including the governor, a federal judge, deputy U.S. marshall, a sheriff, an attorney, and a librarian(!). An interesting letter with a pleasing photograph.
