Book is in excellent condition with only some very slight bumping to top and bottom of spine, very subtle. Pages are clean and binding is good. Dust Jacket has a couple of tiny tears and is very slightly rubbed. There is some vague wrinkling at top of dust jacket. Reprinted on the order of the Wentworth County Council as a Centennial project by the Ryerson Press. Presentation copy signed by some people whose names are pretty much unreadable. The handwriting looks the same, Dated June 12, 1980. Maybe Clifford Sheets and ?Anne Hamilton Jones? oh well, A presentation edition with 'The Regional Muncipality of Hamilton-Wentworth' gold sticker on first end paper. The authors fathers went back to the early nineteenth century and the pioneering of Canada West. Very nice illustrations throughout the book. 142 pp.

The application of molecular genetics has provided new insights into determinants of pathogenicity and virulence. Progress has also been made in elucidating the chemical structures and modes of action of phytotoxins from Pseudomonas syringae; by establishing novel strategies for disease control; in biotechnological applications; by studying the resistant reaction of the plant with a combined biochemical and genetic approach; and in the development of new detection and identification methodologies as tools in epidemiological studies. With such rapid advances it becomes more and more difficult to keep abreast of the developments and concepts within disciplines, all involving research on pathovars of P. syringae. In an attempt to provide a balanced overview, recent developments in these rapidly expanding fields have been critically reviewed at the beginning of each chapter by internationally renowned experts. Our comprehensive coverage has been made possible because all the contributors to this volume presented their latest findings at the `5th International Conference on Pseudomonas syringae Pathovars and Related Pathogens' in Berlin, September 3-8, 1995. He and his British South Africa Company founded the southern African territory of Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe and Zambia), which the company named after him in 1895. He also established the Rhodes Scholarship, which is funded by his estate. He entered the diamond trade at Kimberley in 1871 and, with funding from Rothschild & Co, began to systematically buy out and consolidate diamond mines, eventually gaining a near-complete monopoly of the world diamond market. His diamond company De Beers, formed in 1888, retains its prominence into the 21st century." - Wikipedia.
