Zustand: NEAR FINE. First printing. Stahler received his MD in 1964 and shortly thereafter he was drafted into the Army - for much of 1966-67 he was stationed in the Tay Ninh province near Cambodia. This day to day account reveals much of the tragedy of this war, and the stupidity, fear and humor - his account of the casualties they had to deal with contradicted the official count, with far more US soldiers being killed than accounted for. He also attacks the casual racism against the Vietnamese - winning the people is essential in guerilla warfare - and the fact that the US military leaders learned nothing from the experiences of the French.
