Man kann ihn legal überall kaufen, auch am Wochenende und sogar nachts. Er gehört zur Party und wird nicht nur toleriert, sondern gehört fast zum guten Ton. Will man ihn ablehnen, muss man sich schon… billig klingende Ausreden einfallen lassen, die manchmal dennoch nicht akzeptiert werden. Ganz besonders scheint das ein Phänomen unter Jugendlichen zu sein, die sich beweisen wollen und ihren Platz behaupten müssen. Genau das war bei mir selbst das Problem, als ich etwa 16 Jahre alt war. Leider habe ich sehr schnell mehr als verträglich getrunken, und das wurde mir zum Verhängnis. Denn Alkohol ist ein schleichendes Gift.Mein Leidensweg vom glücklichen Kind mit liebevollen und zielstrebigen Eltern über den ausufernd trinkenden jungen Mann bis zum schwer abhängig saufenden Suchtkranken ist das wichtigste Thema des Buches. Aber dann auch der Weg aus diesem Tal heraus. Es ist kein durchgängiger Roman, aber auch keine lose Sammlung von Geschichten. Es sind die autobiographischen Notizen eines Alkoholikers, der mit einiger Mühe und viel Hilfe von außen den Ausstieg geschafft hat.Ich wuchs ab 1958 in der DDR auf und habe seit meinem 16. Lebensjahr über 30 Jahre lang meine eigenen leidvollen Erfahrungen mit dem Alkohol machen müssen. Das ging so weit, dass ich diesem elenden Leben ein Ende setzen wollte. Natürlich haben die Menschen in meiner Umgebung mitgelitten - diese aber nüchtern und damit ungefiltert und nicht weniger hart als ich selbst. Als Rückschau nach inzwischen langer Trockenheit ist dieses Buch entstanden. Es sei Warnung, Ansporn und vielleicht sogar Hilfe für Betroffene und Angehörige. Bei den Anonymen Alkoholikern gebe ich meine Erfahrungen schon lange weiter. Das gleiche möchte ich mit diesem Buch erreichen. Inzwischen haben sich die Zeiten grundlegend geändert - vor allem die völlig unerwarteten gesellschaftlichen Anforderungen der heutigen Zeit brauchen meine volle Aufmerksamkeit, die ich nur nüchtern aufbringen kann.
