Internally very good and crisp, with the very odd mark; Strikingly featuring an early, crisp circular ink stamp to the front free end paper bearing the acronym 'AS?AP' without further inscription, suggesting a compelling provenance linked to an early research library collection—likely the historic Assembly of Scientific and Applied Psychologists (ASAP) or a related early psychical research society. Dr Alphonse Teste (1814-1888) was a prominent Parisian homeopath and physician whose work represents a critical developmental milestone in early psychology. Dedicated by permission to the famed English mesmerist John Elliotson, this practical manual serves as a literal transition piece capturing the historic evolution from 18th-century fluidic "Animal Magnetism" into modern psychological hypnotism.
