She began to take photographs around the age of 13 or 14 and pursued her art until the age of 22, building up over this short period a remarkably coherent uvre displaying a great emotional intensity. Between 1975 and 1979 she was a student at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, from where she won a prestigious scholarship that took her to Rome for a year. There she discovered the gallery-bookshop Maldoror where she put on her first solo exhibition. Back in the United States she completed her degree in Providence and then moved to New York. At that point she began to develop ambitious projects, such as her diazotypes (large-scale works on blue or sepia paper). She designed several prototypes for books of her photography. Only one of these, Some Disordered Interior Geometries, was published, in 1981. the year she took her own life.' From the DJ.
