Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - 'The Economic Laws of Art Production' is a profound exploration of the intersection between the world of aesthetics and the rigid structures of economic theory. Written by Sir Hubert Llewellyn Smith, this work delves into the fundamental principles that govern how art is produced, distributed, and valued within society. The book examines the complex relationship between the creative impulse and the practical constraints of the marketplace, providing a unique perspective on how industrial and fine arts function as economic commodities.Smith analyzes the factors that influence the supply and demand of artistic works, the role of the artist as a producer, and the impact of societal tastes on the evolution of artistic styles. By applying rigorous economic analysis to the field of art, the author seeks to uncover the underlying laws that dictate the health and sustainability of artistic industries. This volume serves as an essential resource for those interested in the history of art markets, the sociology of art, and the foundational theories that continue to shape the creative economy. It remains a significant contribution to the study of how beauty and utility coexist within the framework of human commerce. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. In den WarenkorbFirst edition, a major re-evaluation by the London School of Economics of Charles Booth's Life and Labour of the People in London, a generation on from its publication. Booth's study, a key resource for the social and economic history of late Victorian London, was based on findings collected between 1886 and 1902, with editions published 1889-91, 1892-97, and 1902-03. The New Survey was undertaken by Sir Hubert Llewellyn Smith (1864-1945), one of Booth's earliest assistants, and was financed by the Laura Spelman Rockefeller Trust and by donations raised by William Beveridge from London organizations. Smith took Booth's overview of the London life of the 1890s as the standard of comparison, to analyse social changes over the last few decades. The study shows an improvement in the condition of the workers - around a third increase in their purchasing power - but also still highlights ongoing problems of slum life, unemployment, and poverty. It offers the most detailed study of the lives of everyday Londoners in the inter-war period. 9 vols (7 text vols, 2 map vols), octavo. Text vols: portrait frontispiece to vol. I, folding map frontispiece to other vols, 8 other folding maps, integral charts and tables throughout. Map vols: 13 folding maps. Original blue cloth, spines lettered in gilt. Fulham Public Library stamps, labels, and ink shelf marks to endpapers, title pages, plates and text, residue of removed bookplates to spines; all joints and hinges intact, little other wear, overall a good set.
