Text according to the first edition published in 1897. Cover and two-color texts. Typographic composition in Aster body characters 14. One of the 95 copies of 100 for members (this one without numbering or nominating) printed on Velin d Arches paper of 160 grams cream color. Bellocq was born in Buenos Aires in 1899, his parents were Juan Bellocq and María Grosso. Self-taught, he realizes technical practice in his adolescence, where he goes from drawing and painting to xylographic engraving, and then travels to Europe. Married for several decades with Martha Bassi, was head of the engraving workshop at the School of Fine Arts of the Nation Ernesto de la Cárcova since 1928 and professor of engraving in the "School of Decorative Arts of the Nation." In 1931 he organized the First Exhibition of Argentine Engraving. He belonged, along with Guillermo Facio Hébequer, Abraham Vigo, Agustín Riganelli and José Arato to the Boedo Group. This group, which takes its name from the street where the Claridad magazine was published, was made up of writers and artists who try to ensure that the popular masses have access to culture. His work expresses a deep commitment to the theme of a social nature. He was one of those artists who knew how to take to his canvases the human value, the restlessness of man in front of things, reflecting at the same time the environment in which lives unfold. In 1922, he illustrated the book Historia de Arrabal by Manuel Gálvez with 45 engravings. The engravings exhibited correspond to the edition of Martín Fierro made in 1930 under the auspices of the "Asociación Amigos del Arte" in the presses of Francisco A. Colombo. Bellocq composed and engraved in large fiber quebracho the large illustrations and in the head pear the vignettes and initials. Julio Noé took care of the text and Eduardo J. Bullrich ordered the structure and typographic composition. 400 copies were printed for bibliophiles on Perusia tub paper, numbered and signed by the engraver and the printer. In addition, 2000 copies were printed for a popular edition, on paper "Tribunita", which, because it is an economic paper, did not allow adequate conservation over time.
