Previous owner's bookplate pasted onto front pastedown. Area of loss 2 cm by 4 cm to foot of spine. Title plate missing. Boards rubbed. Corner of fore edges of boards rubbed and lightly rubbed. Upper board and front endpaper loose. First 10 or so pages lightly tanned and lightly foxed. Frontispiece, tissue guard and title page would appear to be water stained. Overall, the book is in a poor condition (yet there are no missing pages).

In full calf binding with five raised bands, gilt tooling to spine, titles in gilt to morocco spine label, marbled edges and endpapers. Externally with shelf wear, rubbed to joints and back strip, particularly to spine label. Internally, firmly bound. Light faint minor spotting to first and last few leaves, pages otherwise bright and clean throughout. Good. book.
