Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - 1992 was a killing year for the fourcomputer companies most important to business buyers overthe decade. All four had been dominant suppliers ofminicomputers for the past fifteen or twenty years. But onJuly 16, the CEOs of both Digital Equipment and HewlettPackard were pushed into retirement. On August 8, WangLaboratories declared bankruptcy. In December, IBM halvedits dividend for the first time ever, forcing theresignation of its CEO a month later. How did this happen All four CEOs were clever and experienced. Two were foundersof their companies; the other two highly successful careerexecutives in their respective companies. All four weresimply overwhelmed. And while there was no singleexplanation for what happened, there were definite commonthemes. They recur again and again in the many stories ofthis book. Are the deadliest changes unavoidable becausestrategy is too easily thwarted by cluster bombs liketechnological velocity, cultural inertia, obsolete businessmodels, executive conflict, and investor expectations Theyear 1992 is the fulcrum of this book, but the underlyingtheme is company transitions in the face of massive changesin markets, technologies, or business models - or, in otherwords, the limits of strategy.

Zustand: Fine in very good jacket. First American edition of this collection of verses from Milne's wildly popular WHEN WE WERE VERY YOUNG, the first Pooh book, set to music. In the months after the astonishing success of his first attempt at light children's verse, Milne "had been approached by all sorts of composers wanting to set them to music" (Thwaite). In the end, Milne chose Fraser-Simson for the task mainly because little Christopher Robin "was extremely fond of the Fraser-Simson's liver-and-white spaniel, Henry Woggins; they often met on their daily walks" (Thwaite). Milne was thrilled with the result, published here, telling Curtis Brown that "the music is exactly right." Beautifully illustrated in black and white by Shepard. 12.5'' x 9.25''. Original quarter red cloth, blue patterned paper boards with printed title label. In original green typographic dust jacket. Illustrated by Shepard with vignettes in black and white. [2], 34 pages. Some spotting to boards. Jacket with top edge soiled, a few others spots of small stain, and shallow edgewear with a couple little chips.
