The Iowa native was an author, poet, naturalist, wood carver, taxidermist, and insurance company executive, was also a major figure in the American Regionalist movement. Sigmund's work was nearly forgotten but a modest revival seems to be occurring; an omnibus volume was published in 2008. A nicely produced and relatively uncommon book.

Spine tanned with the gilt rubbed away, modest general rubbing and wear and the endleaves trifle foxed; the corners are worn, thus near very good. Nicely Inscribed by Sigmund on the Front fly: "For My Good Friends Clyde ad Jewell B. Tull, With Affectionate Regards, Jay G. Sigmund. Feb. 22 1930." Copy 141 of 500 printed. Jewell B. Tull was an author and poet who wrote the story "Ghosts" published in *Weird Tales* in 1930, and co-wrote the play "They That Mourn" with artist Grant Wood. Tull's husband was an English professor; the three presumably met while Tull was teaching at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa. Sigmund, an Iowa native, was an author, poet, naturalist, wood carver, taxidermist, and insurance company executive, and a major figure in the American Regionalist movement. His work was nearly forgotten but a modest revival seems to be occurring; an omnibus volume was published in 2008.
