Front and rear cover contains the name stamp of F. C. Schrader. Frank Charles Schrader (1860-1944) of Harvard and the United States Geological Survey (USGS) was a well-known and respected American geologist, mineralogist, and entomologist, and author. He was known throughout the west as the prospector's friend and was also one of the first federal geologists to explore Alaska. The exterior shows light toning along edges and spine as well as edge and corner bumps. Some soiling is present in the name stamp on the rear cover is very faded and unreadable. Spine edges show chipping with the lower portion missing just under an inch and a half. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight as it appears the book did not get much use. Pages are toned due to age and there is some spotting and foxing present. The book has several foldout maps, all of which are in good condition.
