Teils integriert sie dabei auch traditionelle, handgeschöpfte Asienpapiere, die sich auflösen, sobald sie mit Wasser in Berührung kommen. Dadurch werden Heftfäden sichtbar und die zufällig gesetzten Nadelstiche der Stecknadeln, die das Werkstück ursprünglich zusammenhielten. Manche ihrer Arbeiten hängt sie frei im Raum auf, sodass Vorder- und Rückseite ein rätselhaftes Bildpaar ergeben. Mit ihren an archaische Masken erinnernden, durchwebten Gesichtern dekonstruiert die Künstlerin die menschliche Erscheinung und erschafft teils humoreske, teils albtraumhafte Schimären, die den Betrachter unverwandt anblicken. In her latest series, Rags Face, she adds sewing to her self-portraits, dirtorting her own face with rhythmic quilting stitches whose lines deliber-ately recall painting. Yoon suspends some of her works in the exhibition space so thar rhe front and back form a pair. She occasionally integrates traditional, handmade paper that dissolves as soon as it comes into contact with water, making it possible to see the connecting threads and the holes made by sewing needies that originally held the pirce together. In these furrowed faces, reminiscent of archaic masks, the artist deconstructs the human appearance and creates chimeras - some humorous, some nightmarish - that gaze steadfastly at the viewer.
