Jacob Koppel "Jack" Javits (1904-1986), served as a U.S. Congressman and subsequently New York Attorney General before he was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1956. A Liberal Republican, he served in the Senate from 1957 to 1981. New York's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, which opened in 1986, was named after him.The American dancer & choreographer Agnes de Mille (1905-1993) was married to Walter Prude.
