Patricia Nell Scott "Pat" Schroeder (July 30, 1940 March 13, 2023) was an American politician who represented Colorado's 1st congressional district in the U. S. House of Representatives from 1973 to 1997. A Democrat, Schroeder was the first female U.S. Representative elected from Colorado and ran for president in 1988. She was the first woman to serve on the House Armed Services Committee, where she advocated for arms control and reduced military spending. She was a member of the Select Committee on Children, Youth, and Families. Schroeder balanced her congressional work with motherhood, bringing diapers to the floor of Congress. Her advocacy on work-family issues led Schroeder to become a prime mover behind the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 and the 1985 Military Family Act. Schroeder was involved in reform of Congress itself, working to weaken the control of committee chairs and questioning why Congress members who lived in their offices should not be taxed for the benefit. Schroeder styled herself as a "fiscally conservative liberal". In 1981, she voted against Reagan's tax cuts; she was against the 1986 tax-reform bill. In 1986 she had a 95% rating from Americans For Democratic Action and ranked by the National Taxpayers Union as more fiscally conservative than Jack Kemp. Andrea Camp served for many years as the press secretary and a senior policy advisor to Representative Pat Schroeder. Robyn Lipner worked closely on Pat Schroeder's legislative staff, specializing in the social and healthcare policies that shaped the book's core arguments on national family agendas. Derived from a Kirkus review: An accessible consideration of family policy issues from the Colorado congresswoman. Von 1998 bis zur Wahl in den Landtag im Jahre 2008 arbeitete sie als Fachbereichsleiterin für Sicherheit, Umwelt, Verkehr und Bürgerservice bei der Stadt Lüneburg. Im Jahre 2023 wählte der Landtag sie zur Vizepräsidentin des Niedersächsischen Landesrechnungshofes. Politische Laufbahn Schröder-Ehlers ist seit 1996 Mitglied der SPD. 2009 wurde sie als Nachfolgerin von Hedi Wegener zur Vorsitzenden des SPD-Unterbezirks Lüneburg gewählt. Des Weiteren ist sie Mitglied im Vorstand des SPD-Bezirks Hannover und Besitzerin im Vorstand des Landesverbandes der SPD Niedersachsen. Patricia Nell Scott "Pat" Schroeder (July 30, 1940 March 13, 2023) was an American politician who represented Colorado's 1st congressional district in the U. S. House of Representatives from 1973 to 1997. A Democrat, Schroeder was the first female U.S. Representative elected from Colorado and ran for president in 1988. She was the first woman to serve on the House Armed Services Committee, where she advocated for arms control and reduced military spending. She was a member of the Select Committee on Children, Youth, and Families. Schroeder balanced her congressional work with motherhood, bringing diapers to the floor of Congress. Her advocacy on work-family issues led Schroeder to become a prime mover behind the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 and the 1985 Military Family Act. Schroeder was involved in reform of Congress itself, working to weaken the control of committee chairs and questioning why Congress members who lived in their offices should not be taxed for the benefit. Schroeder styled herself as a "fiscally conservative liberal". In 1981, she voted against Reagan's tax cuts; she was against the 1986 tax-reform bill.
