(perforation stamp in second last leaf). Paris: Chaubert, 1747. First Editions of two works on aspects of navigation, pilotage, and masting by French naval engineer, Alexandre Saverien. Much of the second treatise is directed against Pierre Bouguer, author of Traité du Navire (1746), Nouveau Traité de Navigation (1753), and De La Manoeuvre des Vaisseaux (1757), with whom Saverien carried on a celebrated dispute. NUC cites 2 copies of the first work, at the New York Public Library and the Franklin Institute, and none of the second. Polak 8672 & 8674.
