Extracted from a larger volume with sections coming loose, otherwise near fine. This includes separate reports for Jerusalem, Jaffa, and Gaza. Satow notes that of Jerusalem's population of 80,000, around 50-60,000 were Jews, mostly of the poorer class, and the only industry worthy of the name is soap making. Gaza's population of 70,000 was primarily fellaheen of the poorer classes, and 1910 was a very bad year with crop failures due to drought. Jaffa's population of 55,000 has been increasing with surrounding German and Jewish colonies, and its trade continued to increase in spite of the drought. The map, @27 miles to 1 inch, marks the Turco-Egyptian Frontier to the south, and shows principal towns within the District and parts of the neighbouring Vilayets of Beirut and Syria.
