Brossura muta coeva.  Edizione popolare  in versi di questo poemetto che racconta di Ormonte, un castellano che, contornato da molti servi, viveva assassinando i viandanti. Passò una giovinetta con il padre. Ucciso quest'ultimo, il cavaliere  tento di violare la giovinetta senza riuscirvi grazie all'intervento della Madonna che lo paralizzò. La donzella gli propose, se l'avesse lasciata andar via,  di dargli un libretto di preghiere che avrebbe reso invulnerabile chiunque lo leggesse e lo avesse sempre portato con se. La fanciulla fu così messa in libertà. Ormonte, da allora in poi, tenne sempre con se la raccolta di preghiere pur proseguendo la sua vita scellerata. Passati una decina d'anni, giunse un eremita al castello che rivelò al padrone esservi un demonio tra i suoi servi  sotto sembianze umane e gli consigliò di radunarli per scoprirlo.  Il diavolo fu così scoperto e rivelò che se il cavaliere avesse tralasciato un sol giorno di leggere il libro lui avrebbe potuto trarlo all'inferno. L'eremita scacciò il demonio e battezzò Ormonte, il quale divenne un buon cristiano.  Putroppo i suoi delitti avevano indotto il Pretore d'Olanda a mandare un manipolo di soldati ad espugnare il castello, cosa che fecero, uccidendo tutti i servi e trovando il cavaliere con la testa staccata dal busto. Questa, miracolosamente, iniziò a parlare  e chiese un confessore e ottenne l'assoluzione.  Giannini cita solo un'altra edizione in Bologna (1806), che, però, non presenta la parte finale, inserita invece in quella lucchese.   Rara edizione stampata  da Francesco Bertini,  stampatore e libraio lucchese che successe, a partire dal 1805, a Domenico Marescandoli.  ultimo dei discendenti di questa famiglia di stampatori, noti per la gran produzione  di edizioni popolari, piccoli libri popolari, ascetici e profani, spesso vendute da librai girovaghi.
