New York, New York Labor News Company. A charming collection bringing together Marx's main writings on the political situation in France of 1870-72, including The Civil War in France (1872), arguably his most important political text after the Communist Manifesto. The present edition includes a preface and an appendix of notes by Lucien Sanial (1835-1927), a veteran of the Paris Commune. Sanial moved to the US at the outbreak of the Civil War as a correspondent for Le Temps of Paris. In New York, he became a prominent member of the Socialist Labour Party of America and wrote for various political publications.
