Laminated illustrated cardboard box measuring 8½" x 8¼" x 13" with 41 unused student workbooks, 38 unmarked student answer keys and a teacher's handbook, but lacking the illustrated bifolium cards featuring illustrations and text about notable African-Americans. About very good with splits to two of the top corners and some fraying to bottom corners; contents generally near fine. An African-American theme unit from the company whose ubiquitous classroom kits have been encouraging children to read since 1938, this program with a "special" purpose of broadening "students' understanding of the accomplishments and contributions of black people." A rare, but sadly incomplete survivor of an effort to promote education in black history.
